History & Crafts

Boone's painters, quilters, potters, and other artisans share craft traditions long known and treasured in and around the mountains of Boone.

A Beer Lovers' Paradise: The Boone Area is now home to seven of the best microbreweries in North Carolina, with more popping up each year. Our Pedals and Pints Trail connects three Boone breweries for a 4.4-mile scenic bike ride.

The Blue Ridge Parkway wouldn't be the most popular section of "America's Favorite Drive" if this High Country landmark weren't internationally significant. There is no bad time to cover the Parkway. Spring is perfect, but summer, fall, and even winter have their delights and devotees. The high road got its start and was completed in the Boone Area.

Outdoor Adventure: The most current outdoor pursuits have found a home in the High Country, from the refined casting of fly fishing to the down-home fun of tubing on a lazy pristine stream (river levels are usually ample for autumn). Try rock climbing, bouldering, whitewater rafting, zip-lining, and more. Your entry to world-class stories on the hottest adventure sports is as close as the Boone Area.

Cycling: Great cycling and popular events such as Blood, Sweat & Gears highlight the High Country summer calendar. Autumn is also an ideal and colorful time of year to set out on your bicycle.

Girls' Getaway: From unique wellness experiences to bond-building adventures, Boone makes for the perfect girls' trip destination any time of year.

Boone's Blue Ridge Craft Trail: Follow this 3-day itinerary and discover Boone's eclectic community of artisans, crafters, and artists.

Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Boone: Discover the rich pioneering history of the Boone area in a single afternoon with this 1.3-mile loop.
