Rivers Park is the site of several important landmarks in the town of Boone. Visitors will find nearly a mile of scenic nature trails, an historic monument honoring Daniel Boone, and a culturally significant home.

A 1929 home on the property was built by the first publisher of the Watauga Democrat, and was donated to the town by his daughter, Rachel Rivers-Coffey. In 2005, The Daniel Boone Monument on the front of the property was relocated, marking the impact that the frontiersman had on the town. The monument is said to contain a brick from the fireplace of cabin he once frequented in the area.

The Rivers Park Nature Trail starts at the Daniel Boone Monument and climbs up the hill via two trails: Rachel's Loop (0.65 miles) and the State Champion Trail (0.20 miles).

At the top of the State Champion trail, a state champion Sugar Maple, named ‘Baby,’ is thought to be one of the largest of the species in the state. The trail will serve as the southern terminus of the Northern Peaks State Trail.
