Boone Area snowmaking just keeps getting better, ski seasons keep getting longer (often from November to late-March-even April), and slope conditions stay more consistent. Even when the country has a milder winter-massive snowmaking firepower can quickly cover all the slopes and great conditions are as close as a cold day...Add the High Country's natural snow-equal to Buffalo, New York-and you have nationally significant skiing in a spectacular setting.
New for the 2014-15 ski season, Sugar Mountain Resort will open a new intermediate slope. The slope is expected to be 2,000 feet long, 150 feet wide and ready for skiing and riding at the start of the 2014-15 winter season. Snowmaking facilities as well as lights for night skiing and riding will be installed.
Our three area ski resorts (Appalachian Ski Mountain; Beech Mountain; and Sugar Mountain) offer everything from skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ice skating, lessons and more. Check out their individual listings for more info.
