Skiing & Snowboarding

THE BOONE AREA IS THE SKI CAPITAL OF THE SOUTH  & ALSO OFFERS GREAT SNOW TUBING

Boone Area snowmaking just keeps getting better, ski seasons keep getting longer (often from November to late-March-even April), and slope conditions stay more consistent. Even when the country has a milder winter-massive snowmaking firepower can quickly cover all the slopes and great conditions are as close as a cold day...Add the High Country's natural snow-equal to Buffalo, New York-and you have nationally significant skiing in a spectacular setting.

The 2015-16 season will have another change at Sugar Mountain Resort, a new high speed, 6 person chairlift called the Summitt Express. This chairlift can take you from base to summitt in a mere 5 minutes. "Our guests expect to be offered something new every year. Therefore it's important that we continue to develop and provide innovations with a wow factor," explains Sugar Mountain Resort Owner, Gunther Jochl. New snow machines have been added and the cafeteria has been remodled offering freshly made food to order.

Our three area ski resorts (Appalachian Ski MountainBeech Mountain Resort; and Sugar Mountain Resort) offer everything from skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ice skating, lessons and more.  Check out their individual listings for more info.

The Boone area is also home to Hawksnest, the largest snow tubing park on the East coast.  Hawksnest features four different tubing areas with over 30 lanes of fun.  Lanes are 400 to 1000 feet long with two moving carpet lifts to take you back to the top.  Click the hyperlink on their name of see their listing below for their website and more information.
