An Appalachian Christmas Concert

The Annual Appalachian Christmas Concert is a gift to the people of the High Country. We celebrate the giving spirit of Mountain Home Music’s founder, Joe Shannon, by honoring his vision for preserving our traditional mountain music, singing, dancing, and spoken word.

The annual concert serves as a fundraiser for The Hospitality House of Northwest North Carolina and Santa’s Toy Box. Admission is free, but a Love Offering will be collected and shared between these two wonderful community nonprofits.
Giving of their time and talents in 2025 are the following friends of Mountain Home Music:

The Mountain Home Bluegrass Boys featuring David Johnson, Steve Lewis, Scott Freeman, and Josh Scott

Mary Greene – A part of Mountain Home Music since its beginning 31 years ago and a close personal friend of Joe Shannon. Mary plays lap dulcimer, guitar, and piano, and will be joined by Mountain Home Music board member Bob Goddard.

Patrick & Kay Crouch – Multi-instrumentalists with a lifelong love of music. Kay’s musical background includes symphonic and solo percussion, musical theatre, and country and bluegrass. Patrick has been performing acoustic music since 1977, when he founded New River Reign, a staple at Blowing Rock’s P.B. Scott’s Music Hall.

Pickin’ Thistles – A sibling trio blending Celtic, bluegrass, and folk to create a unique sound that captivates listeners and brings their joy of music to life.

Fern Hill – Music runs through the roots of Fern Hill, just like the Appalachian soil they grew up on. Sisters Arwen and Lorien Cockman began performing before they could walk, alongside their father John Cockman and his family band, The Cockman Family. Their sound weaves together Appalachian, Canadian, Celtic, and Western influences.

Julie Shepherd Powell, Nora Weatherby, Gordy Hinners & Rebecca Keeter

Seated Square Dance with Nancy Mamlin
