45th Annual Blowing Rock Trout Derby

Due to the effects of Hurricane Helene, the trout derby will be held a month later than usual to allow for the trout population to replenish in local streams and at the local fisheries that support the Trout Derby. The Derby will be catch and release only this year, again for conservation purposes. Broyhill lake will still be stocked with tagged fish for the children, but the fish will be measured and then released back into the lake.

Typically, the Trout Derby begins at sunrise on Saturday, and prizes are awarded at 4:30 pm. Win prizes for the biggest fish in separate age categories, plus special prizes for tagged trout in Mayview Lake!
