In One features select pieces created by artist Siping Zhang during her residency at Appalachian State University 2016-17, and in her homeland of China where she is an associate professor, master artist and teacher at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute University. In her work, Zhang uses fire-scorched ceramics to freeze the "unified combination and complementation of various forms of human body and the natural texture of materials to express the unique meaning of valuable moments in our life and harmony in our world."
A special kick-off Summer Exhibition Celebration will be held at Turchin during the downtown Boone First Friday Art Crawl, Fri., July 7, with hours of operation extended through 10 p.m. for the occasion.
About the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts
The Turchin Center provides a home for world-class visual arts programming at Appalachian State University. It is the largest facility of its kind in the region. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, as well as on Saturday; on Friday, the facility is open 12 noon until 8 p.m.
