It's free to watch fearless contenders take the Plunge. The Polar Plunge in Chetola Lake is one of the highlights at WinterFest. Chetola starts cutting through the layer of ice well in advance so Plungers can feel the full impact! Agonize with your favorite “Plunger”, most in costume, while enjoying the antics and one liners of Emcee John Carter, WBTV news anchor! Judges will award the famous “Golden Plunger” award to the best costume. Day-of registration and check-in begins at 8am in the Chetola boardroom (pre-registration online is encouraged and is less expensive). Plungers gather in the indoor pool area at 9:45am for a safety speech and then the party starts with the annual march to Chetola Lake. Participants begin jumping at 10am, but get there early for good viewing! Proceeds will benefit local charities.
