In the Boone area, Junior Parkway Ranger Programs are offered at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park's Bass Lake (milepost 294 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), Julian Price Memorial Park (milepost 297), and Linville Falls Visitor's Center and Campground (milepost 316.4).

The Blue Ridge Parkway also offers a free kid's booklet full of entertaining and educational games, puzzles, and activities that deepens a child's understanding of our national parks and the natural world they protect. Pick up one at many Parkway locations or request one before your trip (call 828-298-0398, or click here). Completion of the booklet earns youngsters a badge and Junior Ranger certificate.

Teachers: Parkway Rangers offer environmental education activities at nearby schools (winter) and at Parkway sites (spring). These efforts, geared to North Carolina and Virginia curricula, are popular so reserve in advance.

KIDS IN PARKS

Kids in Parks is a program created by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

Kids in Parks allows children to interact with and explore nature. Sign kids up for free on kidsinparks.com to find a family-friendly outdoor adventure called a "track." After signing up, kids will receive self-guided brochures to help them track their adventures and win prizes!
